KazMunaiGas Exploration & Production JSC was created in March 2004 following merger of KazMunaiGas affiliates – EmbaMunaiGas and UzenMunaiGas, which produced 188,000 barrels of oil per day. KMG EP is Kazakhstan’s second largest oil producer with an output exceeding 10.6 million tons (217,000 barrels per day) in 2007, including shares in KazGerMunai and CCEL (KarazhanbasMunai). The company’s shares passed a listing at the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, and its GDRs were offered at the London Stock Exchange. During the October 2006 IPO, the company offered more than USD 2 billion. KMG EP has a 100-year-long experience in oil production in Kazakhstan and extensive expertise in geological structures of the fields in the country’s western region.
